Department of Pathology

The department is still four years old consists of two academic staff members and five non academic staff members. The main service provided is teaching undergraduate pathology to third and fourth year medical students of FMAS, RUSL. During the last year it has expanded its services to provide diagnostic haematological procedures to patients admitting to the professorial unit of Teaching Hospital, Anuradhapura. The department is in the process of establishing a histopathology laboratory. The department houses a museum of pathological specimens, which is extensively used by students of pathology. The specimens are also used for exhibitions viewed by the general public.
