Classification Scheme
Books are arranged on the shelves by subjects according to the International standard classification scheme “Dewey Decimal Classification”. Outline of Classification schedule is displayed in prominant areas of the Library. The user can use any access point such as the Title, Names of Author/Authors, Compilers, Editors and subject classification number etc. to retrieve the items.
Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)
Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is available to access all the items of the library. There are four computers near the main counter of the Library. allocated to access the OPAC and they are placed near
Lending Collection LN
Books with LN stamp can be borrowed using the library tickets.
Permanent collection PR
Dictionaries, Encyclopedia and CDs with red PR label are categorized as non-lending material that can be used in the library only.
Scheduled Reference collection SR
This collection consists of books with high demand and can be identified by the blue SR label on the spine. These can be borrowed for overnight reading after 3.00 pm
Special Collection
This collection consists of bound photocopies of textbooks, lecture notes, maps, and other materials for using special purposes and can be identified by the SC label on the spine.
Periodicals Collection
Periodicals Collection is in the initial stages. They have been arranged in the periodicals cabinets alphabetically. Library authorities hope to subscribe for essentials periodicals from 2011.
