Staff development
Medical education unit conducts a regular programme of staff development for the academic staff, including conduct of monthly CPD activities and facilitation of guest lectures / workshops by medical educationists of international repute. Many novel teaching/ learning and assessment methods such as Best Response MCQs, case based Learning have been introduced to staff via workshops.
In addition several local experts in Medical Education have conducted workshops in, Curriculum Development and Review for the staff on invitation.
The unit also provides consultancies for workshops in teaching/ learning and assessment methods for other health care professional institutes under the Ministry of Health Sri Lanka..
Curriculum Development
Medical education unit provides valuable and up to date knowledge about the curriculum to the Faculty of Medicine, Rajarata by chairing in the Curriculum Development Committee which meets 3 monthly. Staff also plays key roles in the internal quality assurance unit of the faculty.
