Welcome to the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences (FMAS) at Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. It brings me great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all who are exploring our digital platform.
Since its establishment in July 2006, FMAS has been on a remarkable journey of educational excellence and innovation in the field of medicine. Our commitment to producing exceptional medical professionals and fostering dedicated academics has been at the heart of our endeavours. As we reflect on our achievements, we take immense pride in the collective efforts of our esteemed faculty, students, and partners.
Education is the cornerstone of our mission, and we are dedicated to shaping the future of medicine through the training of competent and compassionate medical practitioners. Our MBBS degree program, admitting approximately 210 students per batch, equips our learners with a comprehensive understanding of medical science and the practical skills needed for effective patient care. The curriculum, designed to meet global standards, emphasizes critical thinking, ethical practice, and a holistic approach to healthcare. Our graduates are not only proficient medical professionals but also empathetic healers who impact lives in profound ways.
FMAS stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment to continuous growth and excellence. Over the years, we have celebrated the accomplishments of numerous graduating cohorts, with several batches of medical doctors already serving around the world. Furthermore, our graduates are contributing to medical research and education at advanced levels. Their quest for specialized knowledge and skills has expanded the boundaries of medical practice and scholarship.
Our dedication to quality is underscored by our accreditation by the Sri Lanka Medical Council and the World Federation of Medical Education. Located in Anuradhapura, a region steeped in history spanning more than 2,500 years, our faculty draws inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of this area. The historical significance of Anuradhapura coupled with its designation as a UNESCO world heritage site, adds depth and context to our educational endeavours. Our commitment to holistic healthcare is deeply rooted in the traditions and values of this ancient land.
Our infrastructure mirrors our commitment to creating an environment conducive to learning and research. In addition to the outstanding learning experience, it is well-equipped to provide a memorable and joyful university life. The modern facilities available in seventeen academic departments, computer laboratories, Medical Libraries and a well-equipped and carefully planned professorial unit complex located in the third-largest hospital in the country, underscore our dedication to facilitating a comprehensive education. The ongoing construction of the new pre-clinical building further demonstrates our commitment to providing state-of-the-art facilities for the benefit of our students. The state-of-the-art infrastructure and dedicated staff will guarantee high-quality medical training that assures the dream career.
