Community-based Public Health Training

Clerkship programmes conducted in public health:

This is one of the main field-based teaching/training programmes in public health for medical undergraduates. This training is conducted as rotational appointments for fourth-year medical undergraduates.

The public health system in Sri Lanka has substantially contributed to the exemplary achievements in the Sri Lankan health indicators and the clerkship training programme provides a comprehensive overview of the public health system in the country.

The programme includes field visits to,

  • meet and discuss with different public health professionals in the public health system at grass-root, divisional and regional levels,
  • observe public health service provisions via a diverse set of clinics targeted at different population groups, and
  • observe institutes providing services of public health significance (e.g. water treatment plant, care for children with special needs, elderly care).

Fees
