Undergraduate program

The undergraduate program of Anatomy covers aspects of cytology, histology, gross anatomy, neuro-anatomy, genetics and embryology.

Cytology : The study of cell biology includes light and electron microscopic structures of cells with special reference to membranes, organelles, inclusions, metabolism, transport, division, growth, ageing and cell specialization.

Histology : Domain of the microscopic anatomy is the study of minute structure of body with the help of different types of microscopes and different staining techniques

Gross anatomy : Gross anatomy covers the study of structure and functions of human organ systems and their relation to each other. Practical experience gained by dissection of human body and study with the help of models, specimens, charts would help the students to develop clear concepts of Anatomy.

Neuro-anatomy : The study of Neuro-anatomy covers the basic principles of organization and functions of nervous system.

Genetics : The study of the heredity in relation to humans and its medical implications.

Embryology : The study of Embryology covers the principles of reproduction, foetal growth and development with explanation of various structural relationships in the human body and etiology of developmental anomalies.

The programme is system based and it is temporally integrated with other preclinical subjects; physiology and biochemistry. The course includes, dissection of human body, series of related lectures, discussions, tutorials and practicle sessions.
