The Saubhagya Students’ Scholarships scheme aims to provide financial assistance to students at the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences (FMAS), Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, facing financial difficulties. The scheme’s objectives include preventing student dropouts due to financial issues, assisting students who do not qualify for existing financial aid programs, and fostering long-term relationships between students and sponsors. Ultimately, the goal is to support the education of medical undergraduates and contribute to developing competent and ethical doctors.
The Saubhagya Student Scholarship Scheme (SSSS) is available to students experiencing financial difficulties, who may apply once the Mahapola and Bursary assistance selection is completed. Students can obtain applications from the SSSS coordinator or complete the online application form. The selection criteria include priority for students facing extreme financial difficulties, such as the death or disability of the breadwinner, poverty, recent loss of family wealth, inadequate family income, heavy medical expenses, adverse living conditions, and family problems. The scholarship will be withdrawn if the student provides untrue information on the application, conceals other financial assistance, or misuses the scholarship funds
