25th General Convocation – Rajarata University of Sri Lanka
It is with immense pride and warmest congratulations that I, on behalf of the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences, extend my heartfelt felicitations to all our graduands on the occasion of the 25th General Convocation of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. This ceremony marks the culmination of your rigorous academic journey, reflecting years of dedication, perseverance, and personal sacrifice. It is a moment of celebration not only for you but also for your families, mentors, and all those who supported your path to becoming healthcare professionals.
Since its establishment in July 2006 with an inaugural intake of 171 medical undergraduates, the Faculty has made significant strides. To date, we have proudly produced over two thousand medical graduates, many of whom have progressed to specialist roles following postgraduate training. More than a hundred of our alumni are currently pursuing specialist training, and the Faculty has conferred six PhDs and ten MPhils, reflecting our growing contribution to academic and clinical excellence.
The practice of medicine demands much more than scientific knowledge and clinical acumen. It requires a deep sense of compassion, integrity, and a commitment to human dignity. Throughout your time with us, you have cultivated not only the technical competencies required in modern medicine but also the empathy and ethical sensibilities essential to the vocation of healing.
As you now take your place in the medical profession, remember that your actions will hold the power to relieve suffering, restore health, and bring hope to individuals and communities. Carry forward the values instilled in you during your time at the Faculty, and strive always to uphold the highest standards of care, professionalism, and humanity.
May your future be filled with meaningful contributions to the health and well-being of our society.
Dr P.H.G. Janaka Pushpakumara
