Advanced MAT Diagnostic Capabilities: Our laboratory is distinguished as the only facility in Sri Lanka offering extensive leptospirosis diagnostic services with a broad panel of serovars that meet WHO recommendations. This expertise ensures the highest standards of diagnostic accuracy and reliability.
- WHO-Recommended MAT Panel: We provide a Microscopic Agglutination Test (MAT) panel that includes 24 reference strains of Leptospira, aligned with WHO guidelines. This extensive panel is crucial for accurate diagnosis in various clinical settings.
- Locally Optimized MAT Panel: We have also developed a locally optimized MAT panel using 25 local isolates from cultures of febrile patients, tailored to detect serovars prevalent in Sri Lanka. This enhances its relevance and utility in local epidemiological studies.
- International Validation: Our MAT panels have achieved international validation, accredited through the International Leptospirosis Society International Proficiency Testing Scheme. This accreditation confirms our adherence to global diagnostic standards.
Advanced qPCR Diagnostic Capabilities: To provide more clinically relevant diagnostics our laboratory has developed and validated qPCR-based diagnostics tailored for local use, ensuring they meet international standards.
- qPCR Diagnostics: Our qPCR diagnostics include primers targeting LipL32-based pathogenic Leptospira and 16s-based pathogenic and intermediate Leptospira. These tests are customizable to suit specific research and diagnostic needs.
- International Validation: Our qPCR methods are validated through the ILS Lepto qPCR validation procedure, which ensures they adhere to international criteria for accuracy and reliability.
Cost-Effective Testing: In addition to these diagnostic services, we provide validated, cost-effective MAT testing designed for the local research community. These approaches facilitate broad usage among researchers, contributing to advancements in leptospirosis research in Sri Lanka.
All our diagnostic tools, including MAT panels and qPCR diagnostics, have been rigorously peer-reviewed and published in high-impact journals, demonstrating their credibility and our laboratory’s leadership in leptospirosis research and diagnosis.
