Pathways in Medicine
Earlier this year, the Career Guidance Unit at the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, hosted an insightful session titled “Pathways in Medicine”, designed to help medical undergraduates explore diverse career trajectories within and beyond clinical practice.
The session brought together experienced professionals and academic mentors who shared real-world perspectives on postgraduate training, research opportunities, public health careers, global mobility, and interdisciplinary roles in medicine. Students from all academic years participated actively in Q&A segments, breakout discussions, and reflective exercises aimed at clarifying their personal and professional goals.
This initiative reinforced the faculty’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded, future-ready medical graduates equipped to lead with purpose in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.
Health Promotion Program: Empowering Wellness Together
The Student and Staff Health Center of the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, recently conducted a dynamic Health Promotion Program aimed at fostering a culture of wellbeing among medical undergraduates. Designed and facilitated in collaboration with student leaders, the initiative blended education, engagement, and empowerment.
The program featured interactive sessions on nutrition, mental health, lifestyle modification, and preventive care—tailored to the unique challenges faced by future healthcare professionals. Activities included wellness screenings, peer-led discussions, creative awareness campaigns, and hands-on demonstrations that encouraged participants to reflect on their own health behaviors and advocate for healthier communities.
This initiative reflects the faculty’s commitment to holistic development, equipping students not only with clinical knowledge but also with the tools to lead by example in promoting public health.
For ongoing wellness support and future programs, students are encouraged to connect with the Student and Staff Health Center.
